Holiday lab parties.

First time I’ve ever been to a “company” holiday party but lucky me, I had two in one day! Today was filled with delicious food (especially the fruit cake&french desserts) and prize giveaways for lunch; wining and dining with some partly sober dancing in the evening.

For my floor’s event, I’ve never seen most of these people before. As Lauren said, this is the time of the year where everybody comes out of their cage for free food. hahaha. It just means we’ve all been working hard. I’m really glad though, to feel a part of something bigger than me.

I wish I could paint my memory with words adequately enough. Long lines for our buffet, our quaint Christmas tree, Sabine’s stolen ornament turned into necklace, togetherness, introductions, first time trying eggnog!, my favorite dorm study area transforms into a worthy fancy banquet hall, dim lights, photobooth fun, red wine and the clinking of glass, dancing to old school songs, a past life showing it’s silence and resilience, the moon’s brightness ..

Anyway, two ((un)related?) lessons learned today:

1) Don’t let only one person ruin things for you. Learn how to say no and stop being so helpful to the point where you get walked on. Know your job and your co-workers’ jobs.

2) You’re really a good person, afterall.
